ABOOT

I am the London Lassie.

A 20-something Scot from the country, who has been corrupted by the fabulous London city life.

My love for travel has dragged me everywhere from Stockholm to Sydney, but now, here I am in London town writing about fashion and working in PR. My time is mostly spent in Shoreditch, Clapham or Mayfair, enjoying wine, music, art, style and anything with a great story behind it.

I started writing at 17 for my local newspaper, the Southern Reporter. This lead me to win an award for ‘Best Local News Coverage by Young People’ and interview celebs such as Tilda Swinton on the tartan trimmed red carpet of Edinburgh film festival as well as appearing on local radio shows.

I then studied a BA hons degree in PR & Media at Queen Margaret’s University. Here I was a collumnist for the university magazine and event planner for the Networking Society. I also co-planned a PR Strategy for folk singer Mhari Campbell, who sang in the Sex and the City movie. Amongst many fun university experiences, I also did an Erasmus exchange in Sweden, where I studied anthropology and wrote for their student magazine.

The first half of 2011 was spent finishing my dissertation ’The ethics of persuasion in beauty PR campaigns’ and working on The Skinny, Scotland’s top cultural magazine. Here I started as a PR intern, but then became Competitions Editor.

When the beautifully dreary and smoky ambiance of Edinburgh got too much, I decided to set my sights on a warmer climate. I packed my bags and headed to Sydney, where I spent 4 months working for fashion and lifestyle PR agency, Polkadot PR. Here I worked with exciting brands such as BMW, Baku Swimwear, Stoli Vodka, Drambuie, and Fit Flop.

However, my love of writing and fashion has lead me down to the big smoke. After studying Fashion Journalism at London College of Fashion for 4 months, I am now propelled into the big bad world. And I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Recently I have been working for Temomanin PR, a boutique fashion agency on Brick Lane. Here I worked on some fantastic fashion designers such as Kiki London, Trine Lindegaard, Tim Labenda, Melika M and Breaks London. As well as this, I have been freelancing for publications such as Glass and iN-Magazine. After a brief stint at LOOK magazine, I am now back into the creative and exciting world of PR.
